WHAT TO DO IF YOUR FEED STOPS WORKING

For some reason known only to Cthulu, sometimes podcast apps stop downloading episodes. Or can’t find old episodes. This is usually (not always, but usually) a problem with how the app manages the feed. They get stuck in their app cache. The best and fastest way we’ve found over the decades (yes we’re that old) to resolve this is to

DELETE THE FEED AND ADD IT BACK

Basically the podcast version of turning it off and on again.

Follow the steps.

The screenshots are from Apple’s Podcasts app but the same basic method applies to any podcast app.

1. Delete the existing feed from the app. For Apple’s app, press and hold on the album art until the box pops up.

2. Go to where you add feeds into the app. eg the three dots in the top right

3. Click “Follow a show by URL”

4. Enter your feed based on the subscription and show you are subscribed to from the below list.

Please note: different apps have slightly different ways of constructing the feed. Some require you to insert your membership username and password into the feed.
