From Cameron
Well, it’s another Saturday in old Brisbane town. 9pm and I’m still working, of course. No rest for the wicked.
I had to buy a couple of knee braces today because my knees were hurting this week at Kung Fu. We were all a little bit injured today, so instead of doing a normal five hours of training on a Saturday, we only stayed for two and a half hours, and…. felt a little bit lazy as a result. Even though we did 11 hours of training this week. Nuts.
When we came home Chrissy and I watched Carnal Knowledge, the 1971 Mike Nichols film starring Jack Nicholson, Candice Bergen, Ann-Margret, and Art Garfunkel, which was really interesting. It looks at two misogynistic men who can’t make their relationships work. Terrific performances from everybody.
We also watched episodes of Big Mistakes, Dan Levy’s new series, which is really terrific, and an episode of Matty Matheson’s cooking show, Just a Dash, which is absolutely hysterical.
While I’ve been working for the last few hours, I’ve been listening to Shostakovich’s Symphony 8, which I’ve been listening to on repeat a lot this week.
Spotify told me this week that the first song I ever played on their platform, back in 2012, was “Caroline Says I” by Lou Reed. It’s on his Berlin album, one of my favourites. But my most-listened-to artist over the last 14 years is apparently David Bowie, which isn’t really surprising.
My bedtime reading at the moment is Colossus by DF Jones, a 1966 science fiction novel about super-computers taking control of mankind.
Anyway, enough rambling from me. Here’s what we’ve published recently. I hope wherever you are and whatever you’re doing, you’re living your best life.
All the best,
Cameron
My Thought For The Day
The Great Way is not difficult
for those who have no preferences.
When love and hate are both absent
everything becomes clear and undisguised.
Make the smallest distinction, however,
and heaven and earth are set infinitely apart

QAV America · Published 13 May 2026 PUMP AND DUMP – QAV America #52On this episode we run through the dummy portfolio , which is crushing the S&P at 125% time-weighted return, and dig into this week’s Pulled Pork: TriMas (TRS), a Michigan-based maker of hand pumps, dispensers, and packaging components that’s been quietly dumping divisions and sitting on a billion dollars in cash. The numbers look great on paper until Cameron and Tony notice the operating cash flow figures in Stockopedia are wildly inflated by the aerospace divestiture proceeds; the classic data… |

Life of Caesar · Published 7 May 2026 YHWH v JOVE – Vespasian #19On this episode, Cameron and Ray wrap up the fall of Jerusalem in September 70 CE — Titus strolls into the ruins, declares Yahweh helped him destroy Yahweh’s own temple, and the boys go deep on the genuinely wild linguistic coincidence that the Roman sky-god Jove and the Hebrew God share the same name. Then it’s grim accounting time: survivors get sorted into gladiators, mine slaves, and beast-fodder, Josephus rescues some mates, and rebel leader Simon Bar-Gioras emerges from a… |

Cold War · Published 7 May 2026 The Land They Were Never Meant To Own – Cold War 308 (Cuban Revolution #33)On this episode we dig into the centrepiece of Cuba’s revolution — the Agrarian Reform Act of 1959. We break down exactly what the law said, why even the Cuban Communist Party thought Castro was moving too fast, and how ordinary Cubans from all walks of life started pooling their own money to make it happen. And we set up the moment one wealthy, well-connected American walked into Eisenhower’s office and arguably shaped US-Cuba policy for the next 75 years. |

Renaissance · Published 11 May 2026 POISON IN THE WELL – The Renaissance #238 (The Witches Part 2)We’re still talking about the Great Leper Scare of 1321 – where lepers, Jews, Muslims, and the devil himself are allegedly conspiring to poison the wells and topple Christendom. It’s the juicy tale of how a rumour spiralled into a pyramid scheme of scapegoating that ended with 160 Jews burned alive in a ditch. Today we talk about how it was connected to the Great Famine of the early 14th century and a bunch of Christian teen beggars who decided… |
